Our Dens
Adventures are found in the Handbook
A parent, guardian, or other caring adult acknowledges the completion of each achievement part by signing the boy’s handbook (Akela’s OK). The den leader also signs each boy’s handbook (Den Leader’s OK) and records progress in the den’s advancement records. The Bear Scouts also keep track of their own advancement using the Adventure Tracking section in the back of their handbooks, and under the guidance of the den leader, they can also keep a record of their individual progress on a den advancement chart and den doodle.
BOBCAT
(First badge earned buy ALL NEW Cub Scouts) All boys, (1st – 5th grades), earn the Bobcat badge you need to learn and say the Scout Oath and Scout Law with help if needed. They also need to show the Cub Scout sign and handshake, say the Cub Scout motto, show the Cub Scout salute, and tell what they mean. Lastly, with your parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children From Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide. |
Lion (Kindergarten)
Lions will be organized in dens of six to eight boys. The dens will be mentored by LIon Guides (experienced Cub scout Adult Leaders_. Similar to the Tiger rank, each boy will be required to have an adult partner. With the guidance of the Lion Guide, each adult partner will take turns leading den meetings or activities. It is a shared leader concept. |
A 7 year old or boy in the first grade joins Cub Scouting with his parent or adult guardian. This is unique relative to other ranks in Cub Scouting. Tigers and their adult partners are just that, partners. They attend meetings together, go on adventures like field trips together, and complete requirements together.
